From author-educator Ellen S. Cromwell comes the latest addition to an endearing collection of children’s books, Are You Listening Potbelly? Dedicated to young children everywhere, this story brings readers back to kindergarten days—both good and bad—as they reminisce and remember the practical life lessons that continue to shape one’s character.

When Jonathan had to go to kindergarten, he was not very happy. And when Jonathan was sad, Potbelly, his special bear friend, was sad too. For one thing, his name was too long and the “J” always came out backwards. This meant Jonathan could not go to recess and he could not play with his best friend, Amy Susan. But everything changed when a new friend, named Jennifer, came to kindergarten… That’s Jennifer with a “J.”

Written around a common concern of young children who are expected to print their names correctly, Are You Listening Potbelly? teaches children about the challenge and significance of doing one’s best and helping others. Encouraged by his beloved bear, Potbelly, Jonathan accomplishes both.

Other works by Cromwell include Splash Puddle Splash, a timeless story that bonds families and generations through the possibilities of imagination, and Wiggle-Dee-Dee: A Story About Friendship that follows the adventure of a caterpillar born into a big and somewhat unfriendly world.
