The 2013 European GIA Conference will be held in Düsseldorf, Germany, between Monday, May 13, and Wednesday, May 15, this year. Held annually for the past three years, this is the seventh GIA Conference and the first to be held in Germany.

Organized by Global Intelligence Alliance (GIA), the Conference excludes external vendors, and focuses solely on education about best practice sharing and intelligence development, and provides extensive networking opportunities. It is designed for senior executives as well as analysts responsible for market intelligence, strategy planning and business development. Past attendees have rated the past six conferences an average of 4.7 out of the highest score of five, with 100 percent of the participants saying that they would recommend the Conference to others.

This year, for the first time ever, the organizers will offer a number of free 20-minute consultative sessions with senior consultants for participants to openly discuss one of their key challenges. This bonus feature was introduced in response to demand for deeper discussions on individual intelligence topics with intelligence experts.

“At each GIA Conference, we work to ensure that participants enjoy practical insights and actionable take-aways on how to develop world class intelligence. So at the conference in Germany, we will focus on a number of important case studies and look at how to develop a corporate culture that fosters market intelligence best practices. This is a challenge many international companies constantly face when operating across geographies - or even within individual offices! We also try to answer the question of “what is the best way to calculate the ROI of market intelligence”. In addition to that, we introduce an interesting psychology session to the agenda this year; on how to use our memories for intelligence activities”, said Joost Drieman, Vice President, Intelligence Best Practices at GIA.

“I am very pleased to host the GIA Conference in Germany this year. Many European companies are looking to sharpen their competitive advantage and overcome the challenges facing them within the EU and with the fiscal cliff in the US. Having the right market intelligence tools and knowledge can make the difference between a winning strategy verses a losing one. It’s therefore timely that we will launch the results of the 2013 Global Market Intelligence Survey at the GIA Conference in Düsseldorf, which companies can use to benchmark their intelligence functions against their global peers and identify areas for improvement”, said Carsten Gayer, Managing Director for GIA in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

The GIA Conference will kick off with a full day of interactive workshops on developing world class intelligence programs, best practices benchmarking, market sizing and forecasting techniques and consultative skills. The rest of the three-day conference will involve case presentations by various companies, panel discussions and interactive roundtable sessions. Confirmed speakers so far include market intelligence experts from Allianz SE, Belgacom Group, Cintas, Cisco Systems, Inc., Leica Microsystems, Philips, MCB, Linde Hydraulics and Royal DSM.

To be held at the Intercontinental Düsseldorf, the 2013 GIA Conference in Germany also offers promotional fares for conference participants who choose to fly on Lufthansa Airlines.
