Alpharetta, Georgia (PRWEB) January 28, 2013
The National Association of Medical Education Companies (NAMEC), the nation’s only network of medical education companies (MECs), announced today that Chris Bolwell, VP of Strategic Accreditation Services & Compliance Officer at Imedex, was elected to become its President Elect.
In discussing the appointment, Joseph Kim, MD, MPH, NAMEC President said, “Chris is a visionary leader who brings the right type of insight and experience to guide NAMEC during these evolving times in CME. He has proven himself before by holding this role several years ago and his willingness to serve again demonstrates his steadfast commitment towards NAMEC. I’m sure that Chris will contribute in significant ways to move NAMEC forward and I’m excited to see him in this role.”
Past president Marissa Seligman, PharmD, CCMEP, FACEHP added “NAMEC is extremely fortunate to have Chris back as President-Elect. I extend many congratulations to Chris and I am looking forward to working with him and each of the members of the Board as we continue to advance the NAMEC goals of providing leadership and advocacy for our members and continuing education for physicians and other healthcare professionals.”
“Imedex has always been at the forefront of CME leadership, and Chris’s appointment to this position reflects this. We are very excited by his election to serve as President of NAMEC. ” said Andrew Shutt, VP of Finance at Imedex.
Chris currently serves as Vice President of Strategic Accreditation Services & Compliance Officer at Imedex LLC, an Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME)-accredited medical education company established in 1993. During the Annual Alliance meeting, Chris has managed workshop sessions and has also presented abstracts in the form of posters. Chris served as the member at large for the Alliance Member Sections Committee for seven years (2003-2010). Chris routinely attends the Global Alliance for CME (GAME) Annual meeting, The Annual European CME Forum, The National Task Force on CME Provider/Industry Collaboration, as well as the Alliance Annual Meeting. He has served as both a speaker and in leadership roles at all of these meetings, and has often represented the views of the NAMEC membership at these and other meetings.
NAMEC was founded in 2002 by four medical education professionals and their companies and has since grown exponentially. There are hundreds of medical education and communications companies (MECCs) in the United States and approximately 110 are accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME). As a result, MECCs play a crucial role in educating thousands of medical professionals and patients each year, ultimately affecting millions. In the past, there has been no organized voice for MECCs. In the ever-changing and complicated medical education and communications environment, NAMEC functions as a representative and advocate of our industry.
