"We are really excited about this year's 50th anniversary show," says Show Director Dave Helgeson who has been involved in the event for over 40 years and overseeing the show since 1993. "The RV lifestyle is something that gets in your blood. People love the freedom it gives to explore and experience our beautiful country and it's great family time. Many have been holding back the past few years but we're seeing a big turnaround with record attendance for the last two years."
The first Seattle RV Show, or trailer show, was held in 1963 in the Seattle Center Coliseum. One of the monikers given the show, to promote the leisure lifestyle trailers offered, was “the way of life show”. By 1976, the show had grown beyond its venue and moved into the new Kingdome and was appropriately referred to as the Kingdome RV Show. With another temporary move back to the Coleseum, then the playing field of Memorial Stadium and back to the Kingdome, the Show has resided at the current CenturyLink Event Center since 2000. For the second year, Washington State Employees Credit Union (WSECU) is the presenting sponsor of the show and will be offering financing options to qualified buyers.
This year's show features 21 dealers displaying hundreds of new RVs and includes two fully furnished manufactured homes, a great option for vacation property or retirement housing allowing adventurers to spend more time in their RV. An additional seminar room has been added providing three daily venues for hourly informative presentations. Returning to the event is Gary Bunzer, The RV Doctor along with two hands-on demonstration areas for "Ask the Technician" and "The Essential RV Walk-Through".
And to celebrate 50 years of enjoying and promoting the RV Lifestyle, one lucky person will win a brand new travel trailer valued at over $18,995, courtesy of Keystone RV.
Free parking at the Safeco Field garage will be available for those who purchase their tickets online at TheSeattleRVShow.com. One dollar from every non-discounted adult and senior ticket sold at the box office will be donated to Washington State Parks who is celebrating their 100th Anniversary. Show hours are 11 a.m. - 8 p.m. Thursday and Friday; 10 a.m. - 8 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. Sunday.
