BlissEscape transports listeners so they feel like they are actually on a tropical beach

It is like a brain trick, when you focus and envision yourself in that tropical location, your brain does not remember where you actually are. You feel the same refreshment as when you are truly on the beach but from the comfort of your couch.

FreshGrownApps announces the launch of BlissEscape, the first app on the App Store that transports users to a relaxing tropical escape from the comfort of their own home. BlissEscape is highly innovative as it is the first product to combine two previously distinct categories: virtual travel and audio guided imagery. With a singular focus on guided imagery about real vacation destinations BlissEscape is unique in the marketplace and is creating a new category of product: Relaxation Travelogues. Blissful destinations included in the app include a Caribbean Beach, a Tuscan Villa and a Mediterranean Beach.

The BlissEscape app allows users to choose their vacation destination and a soothing voice guides them through a gorgeous holiday moment. A sensually rich guided imagery description of a beautiful destination leaves the listener in a blissful, meditative state where they can recharge and relax for 10 to 30 minutes. BlissEscape, and other forms of guided relaxation, evoke the body’s relaxation response, as coined by Harvard Medical School scientists. Benefits include lowered blood pressure, slowed breathing rates and relieved muscle tension.

A 2012 Gallup study found that almost 40% of Americans report high levels of stress. With stress so commonplace in our North American culture, people from many different walks of life have found BlissEscape beneficial: corporate workers, new parents, entrepreneurs, those with irregular schedules, and stay-at-home moms. “As a young mom starting a business, I don’t have the option to travel as much as I did when I was younger and independent. BlissEscape is a great way to let me do it from my home,” said entrepreneur Kate Wilson, one of BlissEscape’s beta users.

“I developed BlissEscape to help people like me who want some help to get to sleep faster or return to sleep if awakened in the night,” BlissEscape’s creator Colleen Madden Devan says. “Many of our more than 50 beta test users have found other benefits too. Busy moms find it a refreshing and efficient escape when they can only spare 15 minutes to recharge. Entrepreneurs and corporate workers love BlissEscape to give them a break from hectic schedules. Even kids enjoy the quiet, relaxing time that BlissEscape offers and they ask to listen again and again.”

Co-founder and app designer Jijesh Devan said, "I use BlissEscape whenever I can’t relax before bed time. Especially after my late night soccer games I am wired when I get home and I need to sleep. BlissEscape helps me relax and enjoy a restful sleep.”

“Through vivid guided imagery the listener feels as if they are actually on a Caribbean Beach,” says Madden Devan. “It is like a brain trick, when you focus and envision yourself in that tropical location, your brain does not remember where you actually are. You feel the same refreshment as when you are truly on the beach but from the comfort of your couch. There’s none of the hassle of real life travel.”

The app launches to the public on January 28th costs $4.99. The app contains three full length (30 minute) and three Mini (5 minute) versions for each destination: Caribbean Beach, Tuscan Villa and Mediterranean Beach. Each full-length BlissEscape includes a descriptive audio travelogue that is 10 to12 minutes long, followed by original, destination-inspired music. Mini BlissEscapes are perfect for quick breaks. The Android version of the app will be launched in the coming weeks as will free BlissEscape Lite apps for iOS and Android.
