InterDev, a leading Atlanta-area provider of information technology and security services, today announced that it has been awarded a contract with the City of Brookhaven, Georgia, to provide all services related to information technology - network/computing and GIS systems. InterDev has acquired a reputation as a leading information technology resource in public-private partnerships (PPP) with municipalities, state agencies and public safety departments throughout Georgia. Brookhaven is the second city in DeKalb County to select InterDev for such a partnership.

“Brookhaven’s charter allows us to contract many of our services out and to get things done in a more cost efficient, responsive and accountable way,” said Mayor J. Max Davis. “This is a trend that is going to be taking off in the next 10 years not just for the state of Georgia but for the country.”

InterDev, who is already providing IT services for the City of Sandy Springs and the City of Dunwoody, was able to anticipate the needs of the new city and help stand up operations -- ranging from IT infrastructure to voice and data communications -- in less than a week’s time, enabling the city to be fully connected beginning at midnight on Brookhaven’s first day of operations.

“Government entities are increasingly turning to the private sector to enhance services to their citizens while still controlling costs,” said InterDev CEO Gary Nichols. “These partnerships allow cities to maintain their focus on the business of serving their residents while employing specialists to deliver key services both behind and in front of the scenes.”

Statistics indicate that cities operating under a PPP model can enjoy dramatic savings (nearly 30%, according to a recent study by the Georgia Institute of Technology) without any reduction in quality and quantity of services, and in many cases, with more innovation and better service delivery.

“From the time we secured the City of Brookhaven contract, our team has worked tirelessly to ensure successful completion of Day One operations,” continued Nichols.

Specific services InterDev provides under its contract include selecting, configuring, managing, monitoring and maintaining all IT hardware, software, ERP and GIS systems. InterDev also oversees administration of the City's electronic mail servers to comply with state and federal archival requirements, administration of the City's VoIP system, and the development and administration of state-of-the-art security protocols and platforms.
