AAT (Association of Accounting Technicians) together with specialist online learning provider Floream are working in collaboration to launch skills based finance and accounting qualifications in India (AAT in India).

Skills development is high on the agenda in India, with the country estimated to have the world’s largest workforce by 2025 and with the government’s ambitious target to up skill 500 million people by 2022.

The introduction of ‘AAT in India’ will drive skills development in the finance and accounts sector and help close the divide between academic education and the skills required by employers. This also supports India’s growth as a global provider of outsourcing solutions, through developing a workforce with internationally recognised qualifications.

AAT and Floream will deliver bespoke training, tailored to employer’s needs to ensure staff have practical skills and knowledge that can be implemented in the workplace. We will be meeting the requirements of both large corporates as well as the unorganised micro, small and medium enterprise market.

AAT Director of Global Development, Clare Morley commented: “Many employees in the finance and accountancy sector work below chartered level (CA); these employees need qualifications and specific training to ensure they’re performing to the best standard and with professional conduct in mind.

“By working with local training providers, skills focussed institutes, universities and schools in India, we’ll be helping to address the skill shortage in our sector below Chartered Accountancy level and give employers bespoke training options to ensure employees are getting the necessary expertise to achieve high working standards.”

Co-founder of Floream, Michael Curry commented: “We are very pleased to be working with AAT in India. Their framework for developing and certifying junior accounting practitioners is unmatched certainly in the UK and in many other parts of the world. We are delighted to be supporting them with our online training capabilities to take this framework to a broader international market.”
