Yumi Media comments on an article in The Baltimore Sun about how to adopt veganism.

On January 30, Yumi Media releases a statement following The Baltimore Sun article on a trend towards healthier living and simple ways to adopt a vegan diet by using meal substitutes provided by companies like Quorn.

According to The Baltimore Sun article “Changing to a vegan diet is possible with planning,” by Andrea K. Walker, becoming vegan can be a simple process and has many benefits. In the article, MedStar Good Samaritan Hospital registered dietitian Ingrid Beardsley says, “In general, vegans tend to have lower blood cholesterol levels, lower risk of heart disease, blood pressure, and Type 2 diabetes.”

Vegetarianism and veganism has various health benefits, but age is important because it indicates what stage a person is in and what type of foods they should consume. Studies show that consuming “plant foods can provide all of the essential amino acids required for healthy adults,” according to Beardsley. Walker writes, “The major plant food sources of protein are legumes (beans and lentils), cereals, nuts and seeds, and their butters. A combination of these promotes good nutrition at any age.”

Yumi Media commends people who are dedicated to leading a healthy lifestyle and are willing to become vegan or vegetarian and says, “We are pleased to see more people interested in changing their eating habits and commend those who are committed to transforming into vegetarians or vegans.” They add, “Although the transformation process can be challenging, there are great resources available and since we haven’t heard any Quorn complaints, we recommend referring to their recipes to start off your journey.”
