...we understand as an international community that changing the world positively begins with the kids.

The world has been changed and made much smaller by social media. Through Facebook, billions stay connected by sharing photos, introducing new products, sharing ideas, and discussing issues but how many have used it to partake in philanthropy? By liking the ABS CBN Foundation International page at http://www.facebook.com/abscbnfoundation, every LIKE will be matched with one dollar towards its child watch program, Bantay Bata.
In 1997, Bantay Bata (Child Watch), was established as a program of ABS CBN Foundation in the Philippines, focused on the rescue and care of abused, at-risk, and abandoned Filipino children. It has since grown into a nationwide rescue and child welfare program that includes a 24/7 hotline, 163, and the Children’s Village.
The 163 hotline has filtered through requests for legal services, shelter, medical assistance, and educational assistance. It also began a caravan of community seminars and conferences to prevent child abuse by disseminating knowledge on laws, parenting techniques, and systems that protect children. For the children in need of rehabilitation as a result of abuse, neglect, exploitation, or abandonment, the Children’s Village became their safe haven. Located in a 2.5 hectare property in Bulacan, it houses an average of 60 children. With its superior staff, the Village nurtures children with the best possible care, until they are ready to be reintegrated with their own families, adopted, or relocated to institutions better suited to provide the care they need.
“Bantay Bata (Child Watch) has always been our most supported program because we understand as an international community that changing the world positively begins with the kids,” said Jo Ann Kyle, Managing Director for ABS CBN Foundation International.
