(Paul's) story will surely impact the way people view hearing loss, who it affects and how important it is to overcome.
Syracuse, NY (PRWEB) January 30, 2013
On Saturday, February 2nd, representatives from The HearStrong Foundation will award Paul Szemborski Jr., 17, of Jasper, TX, the title of HearStrong Champion. The presentation will be held during the NFL Players Association’s annual Smocks & Jocks Jazz Brunch and Art Auction, an event that raises funds for the Gene Upshaw Players Assistance Trust Fund and the Terence Blanchard & Robin Burgess Endowment for Jazz Studies at the New Orleans Center of Creative Arts.
The HearStrong Foundation selected Paul, nominated by Susan Bolgiano, HIS, of Clear Choice Hearing Solutions, to be a HearStrong Champion because of his determination to conquer his hearing loss and achieve his life goals, on and off the field. Paul’s journey to better hearing began when his football coach informed him that he could no longer play because he couldn’t hear the sounds of the game. Refusing to give up on his ambitions, Paul decided to address his hearing loss and get fitted for hearing devices.
“My first football practice with my hearing aids was like a dream come true,” said Paul. “I almost cried because I was able to really communicate and interact with my teammates.”
The HearStrong Foundation, sponsored by EarQ and the NFL Players Association, will present Paul with an official HearStrong Champion certificate and gold medal.
“Paul is a remarkable young man,” said Ed Keller, CEO of the HearStrong Foundation. “His story will surely impact the way people view hearing loss, who it affects and how important it is to overcome.”
