Newark, CA (PRWEB) January 31, 2013
After years of federal service, Anthony Pino returned to his home state of California only to find the landscape overrun by industrial, defense and residential development and a society obsessed with violence. His reaction to these stark conditions manifested in three poems, “Plum Valley --- Joaquin and Me,” “Apricot,” and “Red Cadillac.” These three along with other stories and writings are featured in Pino’s new book, “A Hidden River”.
Using the limitless realm of the imagination and the power of poetry and prose, Pino paints a unique and affecting portrait of humanity and human civilization as it teeters on the edge of either growth or devastation. Some of Pino’s works, including “The Amazing Death of J. J. Finkelstein” and “An Ode to My Mexican Pot.”, explore society’s violent disregard for human civility and the continuing presence of violence against other human societies. Others such as “The War Bird” and “Mars 2003” offer a prescient look into an anticipated war and the exploitative nature of battle.
Incisive, prophetic and thoroughly riveting, “A Hidden River” captures the sweep of the times and depicts one man’s fears, hopes and revelations in the most exquisite and compelling forms of literature.
