Dartmouth, MA (PRWEB) January 31, 2013
Bristol Community College, a comprehensive community college in south eastern Massachusetts, chose local vendor Emerald Health software in a partnership to prepare students who can function effectively in an electronic medical record environment. All medical records must be electronic by 2014 in Massachusetts, so this experience is critical to prepare students to work under this mandate.
The software will be used by student in nursing, medical assisting, therapeutic massage, and pharmacy technician in a real-time clinic experience, according to Joy Rose, program director for the Healthcare Information program at the College. “We found this software to be comprehensive and very user-friendly,” said Rose. “It was developed by doctors and puts complete and thorough information at the practitioner’s fingertips. It enables the strong communication needed for modern medical practice.”
The mandate to make all medical records electronic requires highly-trained personnel, Rose added. “By offering students this advanced training while in college, they are able to help local practitioners with the implementation. Emerald Health is also committed to working with us to give students a thorough understanding of electronic medical records.”
The software is networked and available to students working both at the New Bedford and Fall River Campuses, another benefit to the software, Rose added. The software has been implemented and is in use, she said.
