“We have come to accept losing control over data when moving to cloud compute infrastructure. vCage is the first product to challenge this way of thinking.”
Santa Clara, CA (PRWEB) January 31, 2013
PrivateCore today has been named one of ten finalists for RSA® Conference’s 2013 Innovation Sandbox program. Innovation Sandbox is a half day gathering of venture capitalists, entrepreneurs and security professionals pioneering the future of information security. The finalists represent new technologies and strategies with the potential to transform the future of information security. On Monday, February 25, PrivateCore will have the opportunity to demonstrate its security innovation to the Conference’s esteemed panel of judges and be named Most Innovative Company at RSA Conference 2013.
“Being selected as an Innovation Sandbox finalist affirms that these organizations have identified proactive ways of solving and executing solutions to security obstacles,” said Sandra Toms LaPedis, Area Vice President and General Manager of RSA Conference. “With Innovation Sandbox, RSA Conference showcases the companies and individuals creating out of the box technologies that will continue to drive security evolution. This program also provides a concrete platform for other ambitious start-ups looking to invigorate the information security industry.”
PrivateCore vCage is the first software to transparently protect x86 applications while in use against physical attacks on infrastructure. By encrypting data in-use during program execution, vCage’s software-only full-memory encryption bridges the gap between data at-rest and data in-transit protection. Combined with trusted execution technologies, vCage makes it safe to run any application, anywhere and on demand.
vCage addresses the risk of using outsourced infrastructure by virtualizing physical security. While data may be protected in-transit and at-rest, there has been no complete solution to protect data while in use. This meant unauthorized physical access to servers allowed unauthorized data access. When outsourcing computation infrastructure, service providers, administrators, contractors, suppliers, and government agencies may have physical access to servers, and thus to potentially sensitive data.
“We have come to accept losing control over data when moving to cloud compute infrastructure,” said CEO and co-founder Oded Horovitz. “vCage is the first product to challenge this way of thinking.”
The “Most Innovative Company at RSA Conference 2013” winner will be determined at the conclusion of Innovation Sandbox, after each finalist gives a short presentation to a panel of judges including Asheen Chandna, Partner at Greylock Partners; Paul Kocher, President of Cryptography Research; George Hoyem, Investment Partner at In-Q-Tel; Alastair Goldfisher, Editor at Venture Capital Journal; and Gerhard Eschelbeck, CTO & SVP at Sophos.
