Eric Shuman is busy these days, dotting the i's and crossing the t's, as he finalizes the sales of his mega travel club.
According to Shuman, "At first I wasn't allowed to talk about the deal a whole lot. Now that it's almost done, I still don't want to say too much, other than I had a good run, and I can't wait to see where it all goes from here."
Shuman started the Travel Club business many years ago, and it wasn't easy. Shuman went on to say, "Timeshare had more of a history and more credibility, but what we had was a new and better business model. We had to prove ourselves. But once we did, and everyone understood that they could get a lot more vacation for their dollar, business took off."
Travel Clubs are the next generation of the Timeshare business. Couples sit through a sales presentation and are offered a deal to buy that day that is really attractive. If one does choose to become a member, they get discounts on all travel, including cruises, hotels, car rentals and all inclusive resorts. They also can get access to timeshare resort condos for a fraction of the price.
Shuman's sale of his travel club is said to be worth over 30 million dollars and should be completed and finalized in days. After that, Shuman says he's going on vacation, rather ironic for a man who spent his entire life in the travel business.
