Los Angeles Flower District California Flower Mall petallers give inside tips to save up to 70% off retail prices on red long stemmed Valentine’s roses and flower gifts. Valentine's Day inspires the heaviest demand for red long-stemmed roses, and several rosebuds must be sacrificed to create a single long-stemmed rose.
“Factors that affect red long stemmed Valentine’s rose prices are a simple case of supply and demand,” said Hilda Jimenez, California Flower Mall Operations Manager. “After the Christmas and Dia de Guadalupe season demand for red roses is filled, growers need 50-70 days to produce enough roses for Valentine's Day. Winter's shorter daylight hours and higher energy costs hamper efforts to grow large rose crops and inclement weather often severely impacts rose production and delivery.”
“A dozen red long stemmed Valentine's roses arrangement will retail in some parts of Los Angeles for $90 - $125 delivered. Nationally, a Society of American Florists 2012 poll showed florists charged on average $80 for a dozen arranged long stemmed red roses."
In 2012, the on average lowest price at California Flower Mall for a dozen long stemmed red roses was $36, said Gersain Bustos, Owner of Growers Direct. He offered these tips for getting deep discounts on Valentine’s roses and working around holiday price demands:
“Every Valentine’s Day rose and flower in Los Angeles comes from the eight-block LA Flower District. California Flower Mall’s DIY customers will save on gorgeous farm fresh Valentine’s Day long stemmed red roses because they are buying where the floral trade shops -- direct from wholesale flower market distributors,” stated Mark Chatoff, California Flower Mall Owner and President.
Roses in February are special, even in sunny Southern California, and Valentine’s Day inspires the highest demand of the year for long stemmed red roses.
