Lamborghini has announced the launch of its new GT3 FL2 racing car, as well as entering into a minimum five-year agreement with German motorsport team Reiter Engineering to be their exclusive development and supply partner for Lamborghini GT3 cars.
The Italian car manufacturer has unveiled a new GT3 motorsport programme, which includes plans for its Gallardo GT3 FL2 to compete against GT3-spec versions of the McLaren MP4-12C, Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG and Porsche 911 in the 2013 and 2014 seasons.
While no performance details have yet to be revealed about the GT3 FL2, which has been developed in cooperation with Reiter Engineering, the racing car will be based on the new 2013 model year Gallardo and will focus on long-distance performance, with ‘24-hour’ brakes, improved engine cooling and reduced fuel consumption.

“Lamborghini’s launch of their new Gallardo GT3 FL2 race car and their plans for a new GT3 motorsport programme are extremely exciting.
“I know that the GT3 FL2 racing car will have a highly efficient aero kit, a new front splitter and a rear carbon diffuser, as well as having a reduced weigh of 25kg compared with the previous Gallardo GT3. I can’t wait to see when the new Gallardo GT3 FL2 arrives.”
