Carson Dunlop and Jefferson College have formed a strategic partnership to offer a career home inspection training program. The comprehensive 10-course certificate program is available through the college’s Continuing Education and Workforce Development department. Content is delivered in a highly visual and easy to understand format. The program is focused on practical applied technical knowledge, providing a solid foundation for success in the home inspection field.
The comprehensive education program covering all aspects of the home inspection profession was created by two leaders in the field – Carson Dunlop and the American Society of Home Inspectors. The 10 courses were developed in collaboration with education design consultants and distance education specialists.
“We are thrilled to be working in partnership with Jefferson College,” commented Alan Carson, President of Carson Dunlop. “The ability to offer our program through reputable College creates new opportunities for individuals looking to pursue a career in the home inspection field in Missouri .”
“The partnership enhances Jefferson College ability to offer quality, relevant continuing education to our students. The new courses will broaden the variety of topics currently available at the college. Economic development, job training, and retraining continue to be top priorities for the College through collaboration with business and community organizations,” said Hal Neisler, Continuing Education Program Coordinator.
The education program leverages Carson Dunlop's 34 years as a leading consulting engineering firm in the home inspection field. The program uses a consistent methodology across the 10 textbooks and CD-ROMs. The focus is on practical applied knowledge rather than theoretical discussion. As part of the education program, Carson Dunlop provides students with free access to their cloud-based report writing system, Horizon, to help them develop the necessary report writing skills.
About Jefferson College
As the preferred source for higher education and career training for many residents, Jefferson College’s highly regarded status is a result of its focus on helping students to achieve their individual goals, along with a desire to expand accessibility within the region so that a high-quality, affordable college education is available to all. While Jefferson College has experienced continual growth and expansion each decade, its mission of student success and community responsiveness, however, has remained unchanged for 50 years.
In addition to numerous non-credit Continuing Education and Workforce Development classes, the college offers four associate degree pathways: Associate of Arts (A.A.) – a general studies program designed to transfer to a four-year college or university; Associate of Arts in Teaching (A.A.T.) – designed to transfer to a four-year teacher education program; Associate of Science – Pre-Engineering (A.S.) – designed to transfer to an engineering institution, specifically the Missouri University of Science and Technology; and Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) – a series of career and technical education programs designed for those who wish to gain employment directly upon graduation. The A.A.S. degree is not designed to transfer. In most A.A.S. programs, students may pursue either a degree or a career and technical certificate.
