Hollister, CA (PRWEB) January 31, 2013
Vista Solar is converting an under-utilized rooftop into a 192.8 kW profit generating solar system for San Benito Shutter Co. Inc. Scheduled for completion in the spring of 2013, the system is estimated to save the company $2.1 million over the life of the solar system.
"I don't think I've ever made a large capital investment decision so quickly,” said Bill Lee, the owner. “It just made sense on so many levels to go solar, and I am thrilled to begin this journey with Vista Solar."
Vista Solar is building the solar system on the roof of San Benito Shutter Co. Inc.’s manufacturing facility in Hollister, CA. Comprised of Canadian Solar panels, the system will produce more than 272,000 kWh of clean energy in the first year and will create a long-term hedge against volatile utility costs. Currently, San Benito Shutter Co. Inc. is purchasing power from the utility at an annual levelized cost of electricity (LCOE) of $.26/kWh. When factoring in the initial investment for the solar system, the solar power being generated is just over $.02/kWh LCOE - a 91% reduction in the cost of power.
The solar system is also an important step forward in supporting the environment. The San Benito Shutter Co. solar system is forecast to offset over 400,000 pounds of carbon dioxide emissions in just the first year. That’s the same as eliminating the consumption of almost 22,000 gallons of gasoline.
About San Benito Shutter Co., Inc.
San Benito Shutter Co., Inc. has emerged into one of only a few U.S.-based manufactures that has also diversified into component distribution. What that means is that while we still sell finished shutters, we also sell all the parts and pieces to our wholesale competitors. Only owner, Bill Lee could come up with and make that plan work! We are also extremely unique within the window covering industry, as we are a supplier that also works with our own parts and pieces every day. That level of knowledge and expertise sets us apart and has been critical in our growth, starting with Bill sanding panels in his garage to becoming the distribution firm we are with additional locations and facilities in Riverside, CA; Waxahachie, TX; Conyers, GA; and Fort Myers, FL.
