Southern New Hampshire University (SNHU) announces two online degree programs in data analytics, a field ripe for growth based on the sheer volume of data being generated by the world every day – and the lack of talent the market currently faces.
With data volume doubling annually and projected to reach 40 trillion gigabytes by 2020, McKinsey Global Institute estimates the United States alone will need to increase its supply of big data specialists and managers by as many as 1.5 million jobs in the next five years.
SNHU’s Bachelor of Science (B.S.) and Master of Science (M.S.) programs prepare students to meet the unprecedented challenges that big data poses by putting specialized data processing and communication skills in the context of ever-evolving business needs and goals. Graduates will acquire the knowledge and skills to sift through complex data, extract relevant information and turn it into actionable insights that help drive strategic solutions to many of the business world’s most challenging problems.
The B.S. in Data Analytics course work combines data mining and structure with modeling and communication to build a broad and thorough education. It also allows students to learn highly marketable SAS or SQL modeling techniques.
The M.S. in Data Analytics teaches the advanced skills required to assess risk, operate more efficiently and compete more successfully across a wide array of industries from business and finance to education and government. Students with two years of work experience in analytics may be exempted out of all master’s-level foundation courses.
In developing these programs, Southern New Hampshire University draws upon its long tradition of graduating successful business professionals and a rich culture of innovation.
“SNHU has been offering undergraduate and graduate degree programs that support the growth and demand in the global marketplace for skilled, well-educated and prepared professionals across the STEM discipline,” says Gwen Britton, Ph.D., executive director of online science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) degree programs. “Our new data analytics programs underscore our commitment to respond to market need, providing students more opportunity to enter and advance in fields with strong occupational growth.”
In addition to healthy job prospects, students who enroll in SNHU’s data analytics programs enjoy a number of advantages, including:
The field of data analytics is expanding as quickly as data is being generated. By melding the science of information and the art of communication, SNHU’s new data analytics programs will make data analysts ready for the mission-critical work ahead for decades to come.
SNHU is now accepting enrollments for the next undergraduate term, which starts on October 28, 2013, and the next graduate term, which starts on January 7, 2014.
