A British company has released a home lighting solution claimed to be the world’s smallest chandelier – fitting inside of a light bulb at three inches wide and two inches tall, reports the Daily Mail. The King Edison, named after Thomas Edison, the inventor of the light bulb, is also the world’s most expensive household lightbulb at £480. The design is made up of 12 tiny LEDs set on two tiers of a chandelier and encased inside of a hand blown glass shade and hung on a 7ft braided cable.
Brendan Young, the co-designer of the King Edison along with fellow designer Vanessa Battaglia, said: “The King Edison lightbulb is aimed at someone who loves design. It is a perfect, tiny chandelier suspended inside a glass lightbulb and hung on braided silken cable - "small is beautiful" meets a moment of genius.”
“It combines the pure simplicity of an Edison light bulb with the romance and glamour of a Kings chandelier. It is probably the world's smallest chandelier. It is the product of about 50,000 man hours.”
Lights 4 Living, a leading UK-based home lighting company specialising in everything from ceiling to picture lights, are excited about this creative idea. A spokesperson for the company commented:
“This new design, simultaneously claiming to be the world’s smallest chandelier and the world’s most expensive light bulb, is a really fun way of combining two separate ideas together in a really smart and fun way. Design and lighting enthusiasts will love the King Edison, and it’s a truly unique, though quite pricey, home lighting solution for people who love owning distinctive products.”
