This is a living process; our interaction with ACE is ongoing as we continue to make changes. The changes required to become competitive involve lean processes. - David H.W. Wohns, MD, Spectrum Health, Grand Rapids, MI
Washington, DC (PRWEB) October 08, 2013
Continuing to offer evaluation and support for quality initiatives to the invasive and interventional cardiovascular community, the Accreditation for Cardiovascular Excellence (ACE), releases the second and third of a five-part video symposium series this week titled: ACE Accreditation. Benefits Beyond Accreditation: Lessons Learned at Spectrum Health and ACE Accreditation. Why Spectrum Health Chose ACE. Recorded at the 2013 Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions (SCAI) Scientific Interventions in Orlando, FL, David H.W. Wohns, MD, FACC, FSCAI, discusses the impact of ACE Accreditation at Spectrum Health, Grand Rapids, MI.
Changes in practice initiated from the ACE review continue to keep the cardiac cath lab (CCL) at Spectrum Health ahead of the curve. "The accreditation documents have become a roadmap for us," said Dr. Wohns. "This is a living process; our interaction with ACE is ongoing as we continue to make changes. The changes required to become competitive involve lean processes." Examining data on stent rates, FFR use and Appropriate Use Criteria (AUC), Dr. Wohns noted that the ACE program resulted in "improved collaboration at all levels" and that "ACE accreditation is ultimately about patient care and quality."
Now is the time to get started on your quality journey with ACE Accreditation. Visit the ACE booth and learn more about our quality programs at TCT-25, October 27-November 1, 2013, San Francisco, CA. Notable quality sessions include:

About Accreditation for Cardiovascular Excellence
ACE, an independent organization sponsored by the Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions (SCAI) and the American College of Cardiology Foundation (ACCF), offers independent evaluation and monitoring of facilities that provide cardiovascular care. By reviewing facility and operator performance and comparing clinical decision-making to nationally accepted best practices, ACE peer review and accreditation services plays a critical role in continuous quality improvement programs.
