Don'tChangeYourself.com Launches Animated Explainer Video To Combat Discriminatory Legislation
Hollywood, CA (PRWEB) October 11, 2013 -- Today, Don'tChangeYourself.com launched an animated explainer video to spread awareness about Michigan's discriminatory laws targeting gay and transgender citizens. Currently, business owners in Michigan can fire employees who they suspect might be gay or transgender.
The video, produced by Hollywood-based animation studio Fire Starter Videos, tells the story of a character named Tom, who gets fired from his job because his boss thinks he might be gay - something that is perfectly legal under Michigan's current civil rights laws. The video raises the point that if an employee is good at their job, that should be all that matters.
"All hardworking people should be able to earn a living and provide for themselves and their family without the fear of being fired for reasons that have nothing to do with their job performance," said Jon Hoadley, Executive Director of Don'tChangeYourself.com. "Everyone should be treated fairly and equally by the laws of our state."
Don'tChangeYourself.com is a project of Unity Michigan, a coalition of nonprofits including the ACLU of Michigan, Affirmations, Equality Michigan, KICK, the Kalamazoo Gay Lesbian Resource Center, the Michigan Roundtable for Diversity and Inclusion, and the Ruth Ellis Center. The coalition works to end discrimination in the workplace by advancing appropriate nondiscrimination protections.
