Summit Mountain Rentals Announces “Race to Opening Day” Facebook Contest
Breckenridge, Colorado (PRWEB) October 10, 2013 -- In an effort to get skiers and snowboarders excited about the approaching winter, Summit Mountain Rentals (SMR), a Breckenridge vacation rental and property management company, is holding its “Race to Opening Day” Facebook contest. This is the second year the company has hosted the contest. Last year, 78 votes were submitted. The company has already tripled the number of votes this year.
Summit Mountain Rentals is asking people to visit its Facebook page, “like” the page, vote for the resort they think will open first and guess the opening date by posting under the “comments” section. Those who guess the correct opening date are eligible to win a two-night stay in a one-bedroom condo in Breckenridge, along with lift tickets to Arapahoe Basin and Loveland Ski Areas. Contest details can be found at http://ow.ly/pzNUh.
“The leaves have already changed. The snow is starting to accumulate on the Breckenridge Ski Resort’s high peaks. Everyone has the itch to hit the slopes,” said Jamie Goswick, marketing manager at Summit Mountain Rentals. “And we want to contribute to the excitement. It’s always fun guessing which resort will open first; now, everyone can go to our Facebook page and participate.”
Right now, Arapahoe Basin is winning the contest, with 133 votes, compared to Loveland’s 89 votes. The contest ends once an opening date by either resort is announced. Voters are encouraged to cast their votes this week. On Sunday, both Arapahoe Basin and Loveland reported the suspension of snowmaking activities, due to warm temperatures. Both resorts plan to resume snowmaking later this week, as a storm approaches Colorado. Both ski areas were able to make snow for 50+ consecutive hours.
“The next storm hits the mountains Thursday through Friday with snow between 4-10 inches above 7,000 feet,” said KWGN Meteorologist Chris Tomer. “It’s just what the doctor ordered for A-Basin and Loveland racing to open. Overnight lows at the ski areas will drop into the teens and twenties after Thursday through the weekend.”
