The State Farm Magic City Classic presented by Coca-Cola announced today that rapper V.I.C. will be traveling to Birmingham, Ala., to perform his hit song “Wobble” while fans dance along and attempt to set a world record for largest “Wobble.” The action will take place at 2:00 pm CT inside Legion Field prior to the largest black college football game in the country on Saturday, October 26th.
Famed artist V.I.C. will be introduced by comedian and radio host Rickey Smiley for the big song and dance. Prominent local officials, cheerleaders and even the world famous Ronald McDonald and Hamburglar will “Wobble” with fans inside the stadium as they attempt to set the record for holding the world’s largest “Wobble”.
V.I.C.’s hit song the “Wobble” became famous in 2011 and 2012 when it swept the U.S. as the latest dance craze at clubs, events and even wedding receptions.
“This is yet another fun angle we have added to make the 72nd annual event even bigger and better than ever,” stated Faye Oates, executive director of the State Farm Magic City Classic. “It will be fun to watch more than 30,000 ‘wobbling’ fans sing and dance along to V.I.C.’s hit. V.I.C. will be in Birmingham to practice the “Wobble” with Fox 6’s Jeh Jeh Pruitt at the McDonald’s heritage location this Tuesday, October 15th. Fans are invited to come out starting at 7:00 am CT to join in on the dance craze.
This announcement comes just one day after the State Farm Magic City Classic announced that Morris Day and the Time will be playing a post-game concert at Legion Field after the event. Admission to the concert is included in the price of the game ticket.
“This is sure to be one of the most exciting games of the 72-year history of the State Farm Magic City Classic,” Oates remarked. “The response from fans has been overwhelming and we are excited to see how many come out to participate in this record-breaking event.”
Reserved tickets for the State Farm Magic City Classic are only $25, while full-priced general admission tickets are $20. Both are still available for purchase through TicketMaster at 800-745-3000 or online at http://www.themagiccityclassic.com. Tickets can also be purchased at Legion Field or AAMU and ASU ticket offices. As the official discount ticket outlet, fans will only be able to purchase the $15 general admission discounted ticket from select Regions Bank locations.
The State Farm Magic City Classic brings fans and celebrities from around the country to watch as Alabama A&M University and Alabama State University battle it out for bragging rights. Fans can also enjoy the McDonald’s Magic City Classic Parade and the Coors Light Tailgate Party throughout the weekend. Kick-off is at 2:30pm on Saturday, October 26th, and the much-anticipated halftime will feature the Marching Hornets and the Marching Maroon and White.
Also at halftime, both university presidents will honor this year’s celebrity ambassador, hip-hop artist, actor, director and movie producer, “Ice Cube.”
