Two new designs in home lighting have been unveiled by designer Edward Linacre, the Weave Pendant Lamp and The Nest, reports Trendir. Both have been designed on the computer using cutting edge technology such as CAD, and have incorporated classic basket weaving techniques and appearance in the finished product.
The Weave Pendant Lamp is made from bamboo and requires no glue to assemble and stick it together. Instead, each of the wooden bamboo strips is fixed with pins at the top, with the 3D design inherently self supporting otherwise. Not only is the lack of adhesive very environmentally friendly, but bamboo is also one of the world’s more renewable resources.
The Nest is a ceiling light made from bamboo veneer to emulate the impressive natural architecture of honeycomb. It uses a similarly interlocking design that again requires no glue or adhesive substance, creating warm, comforting glow for any room of your home. Both lights also come in a variety of other timbers.
Home lighting experts Lights 4 Living have commented on the new range of ceiling and pendant lights from Edward Linacre. A spokesperson for the company said:
“The trend for new home lighting designs right now is to be environmentally friendly, and Edward Linacre’s Weave Pendant Lamp and Nest light are both good for nature while remaining an attractive piece to include in any home. The wooden material used is different and interesting, especially when you consider the design has been made in a computer, and perfect for use in a room where you desire a warm, subtle glow.”
