Master Class Series, Presentations and the Latest Seafood Products among Highlights at Seafood Barcelona

Visitors from more than 79 countries will be able to enjoy direct access to the latest and most innovative seafood products and trends being introduced to the Southern European and Maghreb markets at Seafood Barcelona, opening Tuesday, 22 October in Barcelona, Spain.

“Seafood Barcelona is a knowledge-sharing platform where buyers and suppliers can share best business practices, and through a series of educational sessions, find new opportunities to provide their customers with the best products possible.”

At the 2013 Seafood Barcelona, taking place 22-24 October 2013 at the Fira de Barcelona Gran Via venue in Barcelona, Spain, visitors from more than 79 countries will be able to enjoy direct access to the latest and most innovative seafood products and trends being introduced to the Southern European and Maghreb markets.

The second edition of the exposition features a dynamic schedule of special events to include a series of master classes on specific species, interactive demonstrations, session and product presentation along with a new product showcase. These events complement the exposition’s position as the trade fair where seafood professionals meet to network, review, sample and take away trends information to immediately apply to their business.

“Seafood Barcelona is not only the destination where all categories of fish and seafood products and services are being launched,” says Liz Plizga, Show Director for the event. “It is also a knowledge-sharing platform where buyers and suppliers can share best business practices, and through a series of educational sessions, find new opportunities to provide their customers with the best products possible.”

The schedule of special events includes a master class series, which consists of educational sessions presented by industry professionals and distinguished chefs.

“Attendees will gain a deeper understanding of various species of fish and seafood such as cod, anchovy, melva, mackerel, saltflat fish, natural fish, bream and bass. Topics to be included in these classes include how to grow, source, select, handle and prepare these species,” says Liz Plizga.

Liz Plizga adds that all participants of Seafood Barcelona are invited to take part in these numerous classes and presentations offered during the three-day event:

Master Class: An educational session on Prawns
Presented by Dr. Batista Copmany and Dr. Francesc Sardá from CSIC, and Mr. Eusebi Esgleas Pares from Cofradía de Pescadores de Blanes, President of Federació Nacional Catalana de Confraries de Pescadors (FNCCP).
Prawns prepared by famous twin brothers and chefs Javier and Sergio Torres from Dos Cielos Restaurant.

In addition to these presentations, attendees of Seafood Barcelona can preview all new seafood products and services ready to be launched in the Southern European and Maghreb markets. These new products and services will be displayed in the New Product Showcase area, located in the exhibit hall, aisle 1000.

This year’s New Product showcase includes the following products:

Balzo’s Drying Tunnel (Balzo S.A.)
Dry cans, crates, trays and other products with this continuous drying system using air jets located in different positions to cover the entire area of the products to dry.

Smoked Salmon with Soy and Wasabi (Benfumat, S.A.)
Cuts of the Salmon lion area marinated with soy and wasabi. It is ideal for appetizers, main course, “pintxos” or tapas. All juice and flavor enhanced with Japanese tradition.

Octopus Tray (Comercial De PescadosMar Fish, S.L.)
Premium octopus caught in Morocco, frozen piece by piece and presented with a tray. This cephalopod is a great source of protein, Vitamin A, calcium and iodine.

Tuna (Consignaciones del Mar, S.A.)
Tuna is one of the most popular oily fish. Its nutritional properties make it an essential part of the Mediterranean diet. It is high in Omega 3 which is essential for everyone’s daily diet.
