A new showerhead that’s also a working lighting fixture has been revealed by Japanese design company, Nenedo, after they were given the challenge by Hansgrohe reports Axor. The team of designers have created the LampShower, and presented it at the Cersaie trade show in Bologna, Italy. The hybrid product is inspired by an old fashioned lamp post and builds on the idea of LED bathroom taps and other fixtures.
The LampShower is available in either wall mounted or ceiling mounted varieties, and gives the participant the feeling of being bathed in both water and light simultaneously. The shade of the lamp is made from thin metal tubes and elements and it comes in various different finishes such as matte white or black, chrome, brass and more. When in use, the water comes through the fixture, down the metal tubes and old of the shade’s base.
Home lighting experts Lights 4 Living have responded to the new LampShower design, praising its practicality and the way it builds upon another household object. A spokesperson for the company said:
“Pairing a home lighting product with an everyday object like the shower head, which everyone has in their home, seems like a great idea and an obvious combination - creating a beautiful product for you to enjoy in the process. Home lighting design is becoming more and more creative every day, with people pushing the boundaries of what you can do, and this challenge put to Nenedo is an example of design and function achieving something fantastic together.”
