Vet24seven™, the mobile app that brings a veterinarian to your animal via tablet or smartphone, announced today that it has launched an Indiegogo Campaign at http://www.indiegogo.com/projects/vet24seven to complete development of the app and build the nationwide network of veterinarians that will provide animal care via virtual veterinary consultations on demand.
Using the Vet24seven™ app, an animal owner can tell a veterinarian about a specific problem or issue, include photos and videos for the veterinarian to see and engage in a live video chat session. Veterinarians in the Vet24seven™ network are licensed and screened, as well as rated by app users. Vet24seven™ is co-founded by veterinarians to address the needs of both veterinarians and pet owners. Vet24seven™ will also be available for commercial use with livestock where the remote location of farm animals makes it difficult to provide regular or immediate care.
“As a veterinarian and Ph.D. in veterinary science, I see Vet24seven™ as a next generation tool veterinarians will use to help both companion and large animal owners", says Dr. Patricia Olson, the past President/CEO of the Morris Animal Foundation, the largest nonprofit foundation dedicated to funding research studies to protect, treat and cure animals, "This is a perfect use of technology to extend the circle of care a veterinarian provides. I see wide adoption and use of this cutting edge application with both consumers and veterinarians because of the convenience, immediacy and ease of use.”
Vet24seven™ is not intended to replace regular veterinary visits, but improves pet healthcare particularly when pet owners are busy and getting their pet to the clinic—especially cats or animals with chronic conditions—is a challenge. Too often, demanding schedules and delays in contacting a veterinarian when issues arise results in sicker pets.
“As a practicing veterinarian, the Vet24seven™ app connects me with my patients between visits; the more connected I am to my clients, the better care I can provide," noted Dr. Scott Spaulding, a practicing veterinarian and co-founder of Vet24seven™. “It will give pet owners peace of mind; knowing they can get in touch with a veterinarian to see if the symptoms or behaviors require a visit to the clinic.”
To use the Vet24seven™ app, the pet owner indicates the type of issue the pet is having and a desired response time, includes photos and/or video for the veterinarian to assess, or selects a live video chat, then sends off the request to the veterinarian selected. The veterinarian reviews the submission and responds with a home-based plan of treatment or follow-up visit at the clinic, if the pet’s condition warrants it.
As a special perk for animal rescue groups and shelters, Vet24seven included ways for those organizations to earn veterinarian-consultation credits by sharing the campaign. More information about the Helping Pets Project can be found on the Vet24seven Indiegogo campaign page.
Vet24seven™ will first be launched on the iOS/iPhone/iPad platform and will be available on Android within six months of launch of the iOS version.

The app has a simple user interface that allows you to communicate with your personal veterinarian or the next available veterinarian, when you need one. The veterinarian will respond based on the urgency level you specify. Vet24seven™ will access a network of qualified veterinarians, so whether you are at home or away with your pet on vacation, you can reach a licensed veterinarian that is ready to help.
