Charleston, SC: On Veterans Day Americans will come together to honor and thank U.S. veterans and active military personnel nationwide. The VetFriends.com photo collection at http://www.vetfriends.com/militarypics is made up of thousands of pictures in honor of U.S. military personnel. Visitors can search for images by specific military branch, year, war, military unit, state and country. Each picture contains background information along with a message and/or description. Pictures can be viewed at regular size or enhanced for a larger close up view.

After reuniting with a Vietnam service buddy through VetFriends.com, veteran K. David Herbert writes to VetFriends.com:

All photos, both color and black and white can be uploaded free at http://www.vetfriends.com/MilitaryPics/image_upload.cfm, where they are then edited, re-sized, approved for content and posted live for the world to see. In addition, all photo submissions to VetFriends.com received in October through Veterans Day and the holiday season will have a chance to win a free U.S. military hat from the full VetFriends catalog. Once a photo is submitted it is automatically entered into the contest.
