Inmar today announced that more than 190 Inmar employee runners and walkers, family and friends, will take to the streets of the company’s soon-to-be neighborhood in downtown Winston-Salem for Inmar’s inaugural 5k run/walk. The Inmar headquarters will relocate to Wake Forest Innovation Quarter early in 2014. The race will begin at 8:00 a.m., Saturday, November 2, with an awards ceremony at 10:15 a.m.

In addition to the race, participants will be treated to music, a bounce house, face painting and treats. Area vendors will also be on-site to begin familiarizing employees with all that the area has to offer.

"Holding our first 5K is the perfect way to introduce Inmar associates to what will be our new home and neighborhood in just a few short months," says Inmar CEO David Mounts. "The team has embraced our Wellness Program, which we launched formally in 2009, and as a group has made tremendous strides in improving health and wellness across our company." He added, "The number of participants tells us they are more than ready for the challenge of a 5K."

Inmar’s award-winning Wellness Program has yielded impressive results. Data show that:

More than 3,200 pounds were lost by Inmar associates who participated in weight-loss competitions in 2012 and 2013.

91.7 percent of associates from across Inmar participated in the Wellness Program in some way.

The number of associates with an above normal Body Mass Index (BMI) has decreased by 50 percent in the corporate population and by 33 percent across all locations.

Employees who identify themselves as smokers decreased by 33 percent in the corporate population and by 44 percent across all locations.

Associates will pay a race "fee" by bringing food to donate to Inmar’s Second Harvest Food Bank drive. Contact Sharon Joyner-Payne, Director, Communications, for more information, including a map of the race route.
