Houston's Best Community of the Year: Falls at Imperial Oaks

With some of the highest-rated schools in the area, outstanding amenities and local attractions, as well as spacious new homes, many would agree the recognition is well deserved.

Falls at Imperial Oaks, a 686-acre, master-planned community in Spring, just north of Houston, has won Houston’s Best “Community of the Year” PRISM award. With some of the highest-rated schools in the area, outstanding amenities and local attractions, as well as spacious new homes, many would agree the recognition is well deserved. The community’s 4,200 sq. foot, award-winning recreation center, Lake Club, features a fully-equipped fitness center, children’s playroom, a great room, a full-service kitchen, and large verandah with an outdoor grill, a Junior Olympic swimming pool and children’s water playground. The grounds around the clubhouse include a picnic area, lighted tennis courts, sand volleyball courts, and a playground.

Falls at Imperial Oaks won the PRISM award in the Developer category, from the Greater Houston Builders Association (GHBA). The developer, Holcomb Properties, also won GHBA’s “Community of the Year” award in 2011.

The community is within close proximity to North Houston and The Woodlands, and is conveniently located just 3.5 miles from the new, 385-acre ExxonMobil campus, set for completion in mid-2015. Further development in the area includes the highly anticipated extension of the Grand Parkway between highways I-45 and US 59, also with an expected completion in 2015. This freeway extension will create additional access to the ExxonMobil campus, as well as to other parts of outer Houston. Falls at Imperial Oaks is noted for providing a tranquil escape from the hustle and bustle of life with its many surrounding natural parks. The community is also in close proximity to the Spring Creek Greenway Project and Nature Center. This 12,000-acre nature sanctuary is a tranquil slice of pure Texas nature where residents of the Falls can go to enjoy fishing, canoeing, hiking, biking and horse riding.

GHBA’s Houston’s Best PRISM awards are given annually to recognize excellence within the Houston home-building industry. The general areas recognized are People, Product and Promotion. The PRISM awards, presented at a black-tie gala each fall, have been held for more than 30 years. Entries are judged by an independent panel of industry experts from across the nation. There are categories for every GHBA member—Associates, Custom Builders, Volume Builders, Remodelers and Developers.
