An interesting study from Rush University Medical Center was recently published in Cell Reports. It highlights a whole new area of concern over fat, and what it can do to the human body. Now it has come to light that abnormal fat metabolism poses a risk of Dementia. The study showed that people with high amounts of abdominal fat in their middle age are 3.6 times as likely to develop memory loss and dementia later in life.
Researchers discovered that the same protein that controls fat metabolism in the liver also resides in the memory center of the brain (hippocampus), and controls memory and learning. These results along with what is known about Obesity, Heart Disease and Type II Diabetes should be enough information to make people want to lose weight. What is needed is a Medical Weight Loss Solution that is easy to implement, and easy to sustain. People have a tendency to stop their diet when they feel uncomfortable or have food cravings they can’t control.
This is what had spurred two weight loss Physicians to create the SlimPlate System. It is a natural weight loss program based on the proven technique of a Portion Control Diet. This is a methodology of weight loss that has been proven effective time and again. Often called “Weight Loss In A Box”, the SlimPlate System comes complete with Portion Control Dishes. Each dish has colored lines marked on it, and all a user has to do is keep the food items within the lines. That’s it, an easy way to make sure each meal is prepared with the correct amount of Fruits, Grains, Vegetables and Proteins.
The SlimPlate System is based on a five meal a day protocol. This enables the metabolism to operate at an optimum rate to burn calories all day long. It also provides the fuel to maintain a consistently high energy level. It’s all a matter of controlling the portion sizes, which is easily accomplished by using a portion control plate.
Odd shaped foods can be portion controlled using the exclusive Portion Control Cutting Rings. For sandwiches, pancakes or waffles, simply pressing down one of the cutting rings onto the food item results in the perfect size portion being left on the plate.
The SlimPlate System was created by two well known weight-loss Physicians. Dr. Nwe is a Diplomate of the American Board of Obesity Medicine and is Board-Certified in Internal Medicine. She co-founded the Ace Medical Weight Loss Center with Dr. Grewal. Sandeep Grewal, M.D. is Board-Certified in Internal Medicine and was the recipient of The Charlotte Business Journal’s Healthcare Innovator Award for 2013, and also named to the Top Forty Under Forty List in 2013.
