Locations such as back rooms or staff rooms, which may hold items of value such as laptops, can be vulnerable to theft as potential criminals recognise that the area may not be manned by a member of staff.

It has been reported in the Bristol Post in the article titled ‘CCTV: Police Want to Identify Man Stealing Laptop from Bristol City Centre Shop’ published on October 29, that police have released footage of the incident in an attempt to identify the individual. According to the Bristol Post, the CCTV footage shows a man entering a backroom of the Angelberry store in Broadquay on September 28 at approximately 8:40pm.

Police have released footage of the individual they wish to speak to in connection with the incident.

As experts in business security systems, AlertSystems understand the importance of installing a CCTV security system on the premises of businesses, and were interested in this recent news. A representative for the company offered their thoughts:

“For many stores, CCTV security systems are more likely to be installed in areas which receive the most footfall, such as entrances, exits, the till area and throughout widely-used areas of the store. Whilst these areas can be vulnerable to theft, it is also important to ensure that areas which are not regularly visited by staff members are also effectively monitored.

Locations such as back rooms or staff rooms, which may hold items of value such as laptops, can be vulnerable to theft as potential criminals recognise that the area may not be manned by a member of staff. Therefore, it is important to have sufficient security measures in place to protect against crime. As well as ensuring that locations are locked securely when not in use, installing CCTV security systems in these areas can act as an effective crime preventative. If a theft is committed, police can use the footage as part of their investigations to help bring them to a successful conclusion.”
