AED.com, a leading distributor of new and recertified automated external defibrillators, recently donated a Zoll AED Plus to the FAME Health Center in Karatu, Tanzania. FAME, or Foundation for African Medicine and Education, is a non-profit founded in 2002 by American physician Dr. Frank Artress and his wife, Susan Gustafson. The organization maintains a health center in Karatu as well as mobile medical services throughout Tanzania.
AED.com was contacted earlier this year by Dr. Reed Shnider, an American cardiologist, prior to his trip to Tanzania to volunteer his services. The Health Center was in dire need of a defibrillator, and AED.com was pleased to be able to donate a Zoll AED Plus to be used on-site.
The AED was used twice during Dr. Shnider's visit. Once, for an ill tourist, and in another instance for an elderly male patient. The AED will no doubt get further good use in its new home in Tanzania. Dr. Shnider states, "AED.com came to the rescue with their timely donation of a Zoll AED. The staff of FAME wanted to make sure that I conveyed their deep and sincere gratitude to AED.com."
AED.com sells and services both new and recertified AEDs. The company is located in Brentwood, TN and serves over 20,000 customers in all 50 states and over 40 countries worldwide. For more information, please visit: http://www.aed.com/.
