Cary, NC (PRWEB) November 07, 2013

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) announced the approval of Accreditation Commission for Health Care (ACHC) for continued recognition as a national accrediting organization for hospices that wish to participate in the Medicare or Medicaid programs. The status will remain in effect through November 27, 2019.

In the decision to approve ACHC for continued recognition as a national accrediting organization for hospices, CMS determined that ACHC Hospice accreditation standards meet or exceed Medicare Conditions of Participation. The approved status allows hospice providers to demonstrate adherence to all applicable Medicare requirements by achieving accreditation with ACHC and subsequently participate in the Medicare or Medicaid programs.

“ACHC is extremely pleased to announce the continued approval of ACHC as a recognized accrediting organization for Hospice providers,” said Julie Pazun, Director of Home Health, Hospice, and Private Duty. “The status reflects our entire organization’s commitment to providing the highest-quality accreditation services, ultimately resulting in improved patient care.”

ACHC currently accredits over 300 hospice locations across the U.S. and has held recognition as a national accrediting organization for its hospice program since November, 2009. ACHC Hospice accreditation provides an assessment of hospice services for compliance with national regulations and industry best practices. ACHC accreditation standards are written by industry experts to ensure all requirements align with national regulations and industry best practices.

In addition to program-specific standards, ACHC recognizes that continuing education is a necessary factor for healthcare organizations that strive to provide outstanding patient care. As a result, ACHC offers resources designed to help hospice agencies achieve and maintain accreditation. Providers are able to gain valuable, program-specific insight from the ACHC Accreditation Guide to Success workbook or by attending workshops designed specifically for hospice agencies.

ACHC is a not-for-profit accreditation organization that has stood as a symbol of quality and excellence since 1986. The organization has CMS Deeming Authority for Home Health, Hospice, and DMEPOS and a Quality Management System that is certified to ISO 9001:2008. ACHC is the provider’s choice for accreditation because of their personal Accreditation Advisors, relevant and realistic standards, competitive pricing, and a friendly, consultative approach to accreditation. Accreditation by ACHC reflects an organization’s dedication and commitment to meeting standards that facilitate a higher level of performance and patient care.
