The restaurant coverage expansion essentially completes our overarching business plan for all things food, having received positive initial responses from the manufacturing community as well as from distribution and outside service sectors.

Industry-leading credit consulting firm Information Clearinghouse, Inc. (ICI), through its F&D Reports and Creditntell divisions and sister company FDARMS, is pleased to announce a tripling of restaurant industry coverage, accompanied by the release of its “Restaurant & Casual Dining Industry Credit Rating Analysis.”

With consumers increasingly conscious of spending on dining out, coupled with the end of the payroll tax holiday and increases in gasoline prices, the restaurant sector continues to face fluctuating revenue and mounting pressure to stay competitive in terms of price and quality. Restaurant industry sales are projected at $660.5 billion for 2013, up approximately 3.8% from 2012. Two main categories comprise approximately two thirds of industry revenue: casual dining, which is tackling weaker economic conditions and changing consumer tastes by increasing acquisition and promotional activity as well as offering healthier menu options at lower prices; and fast-casual dining, which has been outperforming other categories and experiencing rapid growth based on fresh, high-quality ingredients as well as speed of service and convenience.

The Restaurant & Casual Dining Industry Credit Rating Analysis provides financial performance and credit metrics — such as revenue, store count, EBITDA margin, comps and debt to EBITDA ratio — for 22 of the top industry chains, including Chipotle, Panera, Buffalo Wild Wings, Ignite Restaurant, Bloomin’ Brands, Ruby Tuesday and Darden Restaurants.

Commenting on the report, Lawrence Sarf, CEO of ICI, stated, “I am proud to say that our firm has long been considered the foremost financial authority with respect to food retailing, food wholesaling and the foodservice distribution segments. The restaurant coverage expansion essentially completes our overarching business plan for all things food, having received positive initial responses from the manufacturing community as well as from distribution and outside service sectors. We have been looking at the restaurant channel for a few years but opted to delay the roll out until we were confident that our logo, much like the Good Housekeeping seal of approval, could be affixed, in order to meet the expectations of those we serve. Companies that do business in this sector and/or compete with any of the players should take a look at what we have put together; they will not be disappointed.”
