Taylor’s Marketing & Management|BRIDGES to Contract Opportunities (TMM|BRIDGES) and Chicana Service Action Center (CSAC) have held their first safety training, provided by SolarCity®. SolarCity conducted the training for representatives from 20 TMM/BRIDGES graduated businesses to help prepare them to perform support services for solar installations across the Southland.
TMM|BRIDGES is a collaborative training, procurement-matching, access-to-capital and support partnership program designed to bring small and minority businesses into the mainstream of contracting by providing technical business skills and resources otherwise unavailable and difficult to access. CSAC, operators of the Downtown Los Angeles WorkSource Center, focuses on increasing overall employment and improving workers’ occupational skills. SolarCity’s safety training program is designed to put TMM|BRIDGES business graduates in a stronger position to win contract work in the solar industry.
“The safety awareness training offered by SolarCity brought significant focus for BRIDGES businesses to prepare for solar installation contracts and job opportunities that will have a tremendous impact on our communities,” said TMM|BRIDGES CEO Terrence Payne. “As SolarCity continues its phenomenal growth, BRIDGES businesses and CSAC trainees will work to offer high-quality installation services.”
The specialized safety-awareness training focused on basic safety requirements necessary to support solar installation activities and the specific requirements set forth by regulatory agencies such as Cal-OSHA. Carlos Ramirez, SolarCity’s senior director of environmental health and safety, conducted the training at SolarCity’s Los Angeles operations center.
“SolarCity is committed to safety,” said Ramirez. “We take pride in helping to prepare and expand a local workforce dedicated to clean energy and the vital economic health of Los Angeles.”
