The complimentary program was developed to recognize the organizations and individuals responsible for creating some of the top eHealth initiatives in Canada and to provide them a platform to showcase their work. Entrants were required to submit a formal application and meet strict criteria for consideration.
Winners were chosen in six categorizes and presented with their awards at the Digital Marketing Canada summit. Presented below are the winners in each category.
Best Healthcare Provider Website – a site designed to promote awareness or offer products/services to the healthcare provider market – was award to Klick Health for their AMPYRA HCP Site, designed for client Acorda Therapeutics (http://ampyra-hcp.com).
Best Patient Website – a site designed to promote awareness or offer products/services for the Patient market – was awarded to AbbVie and Idea Couture for their website Patients at Heart (http://www.patientsatheart.com/).
Best Unbranded Consumers Website – a site designed to promote awareness or offer products/services for the Unbranded Consumer market – was awarded to A.D.A.M. for their unbranded site, SmartEngage (http://www.adam.com/SmartEngage.aspx).
Best Healthcare Provider Mobile Platform – any piece of mobile media, including but not limited to branded apps, in-app advertising, mobile displays, SMS and mobile streaming video advertising targeted at healthcare providers – was awarded to John St. for their Osteoarthritis Myths & Facts platform, designed in conjunction with AstraZeneca (http://awardshowsdev.unignorablework.com/myths_facts/).
Best Patient Mobile Platform – any piece of mobile media, including but not limited to branded apps, in-app advertising, mobile displays, SMS and mobile streaming video advertising targeted at Patients – was awarded to John St. for their Symbicort SMART platform, designed in conjunction with AstraZeneca (http://symbicort.ca/sam/m/).
The Digital Innovation Award – presented to a company that has applied new technology or leveraged existing technology in a new and creative manner for the Canadian market – was awarded to AbbVie and Idea Couture for their Patients at Heart website.
Judges evaluated the submissions on User Experience, including quality of content, information architecture, interactivity and visual design, and on Business Alignment, such as campaign strategy and the impact of each initiative.
Judges, while anonymous, were digital, strategic and creative experts from agency, client and regulatory groups in Canada. In addition to having rich knowledge of the existing state of digital execution, they have opinions with respect to the bright future of digital healthcare in Canada.

The next round of Pharma Marketing awards will take place in the spring of 2014.
