New Orleans, LA (PRWEB) November 13, 2013

Entrepreneur Ed Toups, owner of Office Ready llc, has announced he will donate a massive 670-gallon live oak to the city of New Orleans. The oak will be planted along Bayou St. John near Orleans Ave. and the Marlin Miller tree sculpture on Saturday, November 16th from 10 am – 2 pm as part of the “Restore the Bayou Canopy” campaign. The community is encouraged to attend.

The donated tree will be planted next to the Marlin Miller tree sculpture near Orleans Ave. and Jefferson Davis Parkway as part of a continuing partnership between Office Ready and the MotherShip Foundation, a local non-profit organization. In May 2013, the two groups first collaborated to beautify Bayou St. John by bringing Martin Miller, a wood sculptor, to New Orleans to transform a lightning-struck oak tree into a work of art. This massive live oak will serve as a replacement for that tree, as well as a shade-providing complement to the artwork.

As a Faubourg Jackson and MidCity resident, Mr. Toups is passionate about the community and small business in the surrounding neighborhoods and very pleased to sponsor the planting of a live oak tree in honor of local entrepreneurs. “This tree will be dedicated to the dreamers of New Orleans…the musicians, artists and entrepreneurs who make our neighborhood and city a vibrant place to live.” says Mr. Toups, “The old oaks and the bayou have been an inspiration to me and I’m extremely grateful to be able to give future generations a shady place to gather, dream and be inspired too.”

The “Dreamer’s Tree” will be one of four trees to be planted in the area. There will be a dedication ceremony held immediately after the planting on Saturday morning November 16, 2013 along Bayou St. John near the corner of Orleans Ave. Everyone is welcome and encouraged to attend.
