Compensation Programs, Inc. (ComPro), a health insurance brokerage firm located in Lincoln, Neb., was recently featured in a story on KPTM Fox 42. ComPro worked with the Academic Advantage Child Development Center, a day care business in Lincoln with 80 employees and 3 locations. Starting in 2014, the center will no longer provide health insurance benefits for their full-time employees.
ComPro Individual Marketing Specialist, Chris McPike, helps clients understand the new coverage rules under the Affordable Care Act. Kristen McMann, the owner of Academic Advantage Child Development Center, has been a ComPro client for nine years and consulted McPike about offering health insurance benefits to her employees. McPike discovered that a majority of the Academic Advantage Child Development Center’s employees would be eligible for the “premium tax credit,” meaning they would pay a lower amount for their premium than what is charged by the insurance company. This led to McCann’s decision to not provide benefits for her full-time employees. You can read the full story here: http://www.kptm.com/story/23910723/changes-in-the-healthcare-law-force-one-bus.
ComPro has been working with many small businesses to help them navigate the marketplace and review new factors to consider with HealthCare Reform. McPike says, “Small business owners are reviewing their group health insurance plans and determining what they need to do to comply with the Affordable Care Act. It's not just a financial decision. There are many people that feel the ripple effect - employees, family members of employees, and the business owner's personal family.”
McPike understands that the decision on whether or not to provide health insurance benefits for employees is a difficult one. ComPro believes in providing professional, experienced service with integrity and studies all possible coverage options for clients.
