Shaun Cranston Named 2013 Austin Chamber of Commerce Volunteer of the Year

The Greater Austin Chamber of Commerce (GACC) has honored Mr. Shaun Cranston, Vice President and lead executive in Central Texas of Brookfield Residential, a North American land developer and homebuilder, as their 2013 Business Volunteer of the Year.

The Greater Austin Chamber of Commerce (GACC) has honored Mr. Shaun Cranston, Vice President and lead executive in Central Texas of Brookfield Residential, a North American land developer and homebuilder, as their 2013 Business Volunteer of the Year. The award was presented to Cranston at the Chamber’s State of Education event on Nov. 12 at the Westin Austin at the Domain. Cranston was recognized for volunteering hundreds of civic hours to assist the Chamber in its mission-critical work in education.

“Shaun truly exemplifies the highest civic volunteer business leadership in Central Texas,” said Drew Scheberle, Senior Vice President of Education and Talent Development, Greater Austin Chamber of Commerce. “Shaun and the Brookfield Residential team continue to serve as role models on the importance of community service all year long through their contributions and dedication. We look forward to continuing our work with them to help achieve our mission.”

Since joining the Austin Chamber of Commerce, Cranston has been involved in a wide range of activities, including serving as chairman of the K12 Metro Austin Education Progress Reports for the 2012-2013 school year. Active on legislative issues, he has met with the Central Texas delegation on House Bill 5 and on other critical education concerns. He has also traveled to Washington D.C. to meet with the Texas Congressional delegation on the importance of federal financial aid, simplifying the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) process and improving the U.S. immigration system.

“I’m honored to receive this recognition from the Austin Chamber,” said Cranston. “We work very hard as a company to make a meaningful impact in our own backyard. I’m truly passionate about the future of education in Central Texas and I am excited to continue working to create meaningful solutions for our community. It’s been a privilege to be a part of this mission.”

Cranston has been a Chamber member since 2008.
