eReflect, the maker of Ultimate Typing™ software, congratulated Cincinnati, Ohio for the Cincy Typing Challenge that took place in late July. The competition was the first nationwide typing contest to be held in Cincinnati. The contestants of this typing challenge competed against each other at the Cincinnati Museum Center. The competition featured a conventional public typing contest on touch typing keyboards and typewriters. The qualified contestants were then expected to familiarize themselves with a new typing keyboard layout for the final competition rounds. This groundbreaking keyboard layout is called TREWGrip mobile QWERTY, and it’s an on-the-go split keyboard on a U-shaped surface that’s still not finalized for distribution.

The contestants that qualified for the final round were quick to learn to type on this handheld device. After a few hours of training, the finalists were able to type almost as fast as they did with conventional QWERTY keyboards. In fact, the winner of the competition, Robert Price, was crowned the first Cincy Typing Challenge winner with a typing record of 115 words per minute, eReflect said.

The typing challenge held at Cincinnati aimed at introducing another method of typing to the public and test in real-time how fast QWERTY typists can learn to efficiently use this new keyboard layout. As eReflect emphasized, QWERTY typing skills are easily transferable to this new keyboard layout, which is reassuring, given the millions of typists proficient in QWERTY typing already.

eReflect, the developer of the typing software Ultimate Typing™, congratulated Cincinnati and the competition organizers, and expressed the company’s anticipation for future tests and results showing how the new typing keyboard by TREWGrip will revolutionize typing on the go.
Exciting new breakthroughs like this latest keyboard device developed by Outlier Technologies shows that there is great potential in the area of typing and keyboard design that’s yet to be exploited, said eReflect. Touch typing will be optimized in the following years to better suit the changing needs of mobile device users, eReflect concluded.
