Tampa, Florida (PRWEB) December 02, 2013
After spending nearly twenty-six years as an entrepreneur in Clearwater, Florida, Tom Meehan announced that 2014 would be his personal and business Year of Giving Back. For most men in his position, this would be a shout to the rafters looking for glory with a touch of person deification. Meehan wanted no glory from a plan that started as a challenge for his own businesses and friends, but his managers and staff felt that the world needed their chance to participate in this illustration of altruism.
The philanthropic Year of Giving Back, as proposed by Tom Meehan, was designed as a challenge of small and believable random acts of kindness that ANY person can accomplish. Suggested ways for parties to participate include everything from the act of holding a door, to the more involved act of helping someone who is unable to pay for their own groceries. In the end, the ultimate goal is to do something for someone without expecting a reward for displaying true kindness. Meehan wants to see people embrace old ideas, the kind of manners and common courtesy that the world seems to be losing by the second in our increasingly digital world.
Meehan has indicated that, even if people feel uncomfortable displaying their own efforts at altruism, he would love to hear of other acts of kindness taking place during 2014. He considers even the sharing and highlighting of any random act of kindness a way for the world to benefit and become a better place. Tom Meehan would like to see 365 days of Giving Back detailed on Twitter with the hashtag #makelifebrighter, and he encourages people to tag him on Twitter at @tom_p_meehan.
