Rockland, ME (PRWEB) December 03, 2013
FMC Corporation (NYSE: FMC) honored its 75th year in Rockland, Maine, by presenting a $7,500 grant to Oceanside East Senior High School and a $7,500 grant to Oceanside West Junior High School. The grants will be used to purchase laboratory equipment and educational tools in their respective science departments.
Jeff LaBrozzi, plant manager of FMC, thanked the community of Rockland for its ongoing support of the plant and recognized Oceanside East and West for the excellent education they have provided to many citizens of Rockland including employees of the plant, past, present and future. The grants were presented to Tom Forti, principal of Oceanside East, and Larry Schooley, principal of Oceanside West by Rodney Mason, maintenance manager of FMC and proud Oceanside East parent.
“FMC believes that if schools can inspire young kids to further their education or pursue a career in the sciences, we have opened a world of opportunity for them and strengthened the ranks of our future talent pool,” said Rodney Mason. “We look forward to learning about the short and long-term impact the grants will have on the school, the students and our resilient community.”
“Having FMC as a community partner has been fantastic, especially as we experience the tough budgetary restraints of recent times,” said Tom Forti. “The grants presented by FMC will help us to purchase equipment needed for lab experiments and to look more deeply into developing STEM programming at the school.”
Anniversary festivities also featured an evening celebration with community leaders including representatives from Oceanside East and West, and FMC’s Community Advisory Panel.
