Certified software applications draw attention to the importance of interoperability needed to support the world’s supply chain in a variety of industries. - Rik Drummond, CEO, Drummond Group
Austin, TX (PRWEB) December 04, 2013
Twenty-one products from 14 global software companies have been Drummond Certified™ in the AS2-3Q13 automated interoperability test event, announced today by Drummond Group, Inc., the trusted leader in interoperability software testing. New software applications from Axway, Cleo, Dell Boomi, E2open, Inc., EXTOL International Inc., GXS, Hewlett-Packard Company, IBM, Liaison Technologies, Microsoft Corporation, /n software, SAP AG, SEEBURGER AG and TIBCO Software Inc., participated in this vendor-neutral test event held across multiple time zones over the last several weeks.
Featured throughout the test event were the selection of unique optional profiles which add additional functionality to the products, including SHA-2 (Secure Hashing Algorithm), AS2-Restart for VLM and AS2 Reliability and Chunked Transfer Encoding (CTE), to name a few. All of the participants’ products-with-version in the AS2-3Q13 test event achieved interoperability certification to the required test set as a group and were able to participate in optional profile certification. The certified product list specifies the products certified with optional profiles.
“Certified software applications draw attention to the importance of interoperability needed to support the world’s supply chain in a variety of industries,” says Rik Drummond, CEO of Drummond Group. “So, we commend these organizations for their united efforts to meet mutual goals of driving global interoperability with the continuous adoption of technical standards such as AS2. Testing the newest product versions and new products between competing organizations ultimately delivers success to the marketplace by offering a wide choice of interoperable products at different price points from around the world.”
AS2 (Applicability Statement 2) is one of the most widely recognized messaging standards for B2B e-commerce with thousands of implementations around the globe. It enables users to connect, deliver and reply to all forms of data (including EDI and XML) securely and reliably, thereby delivering cost savings and providing flexibility and control on how the data is utilized. The Drummond Certified™ program provides numerous industries with a wide selection of software tested for compliance and interoperability that offers leading product features in a variety of prices.
Drummond Group's testing automation tool, InSitu®, also was utilized during this AS2 interoperability test round, including being enhanced to facilitate SHA-2 testing. The InSitu® technology allows the tester to automate the execution and evaluation of the test cases used for interoperability testing, including sending and receiving AS2 messaging. This provides testers with more time to focus on solving any interoperability issues.
Optional Test Profiles
AS2 Optional Test Profiles build upon an existing technical standard because certain industries have additional requirements they need added to the AS2 standard and, therefore, to the AS2 Interoperability Test. The AS2 Optional Test Profiles are being added in stages to the AS2 standard or listed as "Informational Status" to the standard within IETF. Participation in these test profiles is optional. Making the Industry Test Profiles optional maintains the integrity of the existing standard while providing interested software companies, who sell into the respective vertical, the opportunity to certify their capabilities. Those software companies who do not sell into the vertical may opt out. The end result is a group of software products certified for compliance and interoperability of the AS2 standard as well as a sub-set of software products also certified for the Optional AS2 Test Profile(s).
