In addition, ACDIS welcomes Nelly Leon-Chisen, RHIA, director of coding and classification at the American Hospital Association (AHA), where she is responsible for leading the AHA Central Office on ICD-9-CM, ICD-10-CM, and ICD-10-PCS and the Central Office on HCPCS; in addition, she represents the AHA as one of the four ICD-9-CM Cooperating Parties. She is the editor of AHA Coding Clinic® for ICD-9-CM and AHA Coding Clinic® for HCPCS, as well as the author of ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS Coding Handbook 2012. Leon-Chisen will open the conference with a general session that offers an insider’s look at critical Coding Clinic for ICD-10-CM/PCS updates.
This year’s keynote speaker, Rich Bluni, RN, will kick off the second day of sessions with a motivational discussion to remind CDI professionals of the important role they play in the healthcare continuum. “We are excited to be celebrating our 7th Annual National Conference with such a terrific lineup of fantastic speakers,” said ACDIS Director Brian Murphy, CPC. “Clinical documentation is a crucial element of the fast-changing healthcare industry, an industry that is transitioning rapidly to electronic health records, ICD-10-CM/PCS, and more precise reimbursement policies that rely on standardized coding and documentation. For the past six years, ACDIS has helped CDI professionals keep up with those changes and stay motivated and informed in their day-to-day efforts. We are so thrilled to be able to say the same for our upcoming conference as well.”
Now in its seventh year, ACDIS is a community of nearly 4,000 CDI professionals who share the latest tips, tools, and strategies to implement successful CDI programs and achieve professional growth. Its mission is to serve as the premier healthcare community for CDI specialists, providing a medium for education, professional growth, program recognition, and networking through its annual conference, local chapter outreach efforts, regular webinars, website, and social media outlets.
