CAP Technology is Being Applied to Isolation/Containment Applications Worldwide
Williamsville, NY (PRWEB) December 19, 2013 -- Isolation Sciences' Continuous Access Port technology was recently developed to lower energy costs in laboratory fume hoods by reducing over 80 percent of the amount of conditioned laboratory air that must be drawn into the fume hood and exhausted outdoors to meet safety guidelines. This technology is now being used in other energy industries around the world.
CAP Technology offers movable access ports in an isolation or containment enclosure, which allow for continuous freedom of movement and unobstructed access to the interior of a containment enclosure, while maintaining the isolation capability of the enclosure. The CAP technology was first applied to laboratory fume hoods to reduce the over $5 billion of wasted energy by using a fume hood with an open sash. Now the CAP technology is being applied to other applications globally, including chemical manufacturers in Western Australia, pharmaceutical isolation enclosures in the U.S. and Japan and chemical equipment washing stations in Macedonia.
Pointed CAP technology consists of having mobile ports in a flexible barrier film to allow non-obstructive and continuous access an isolation barrier and maintain full isolation capability. CAP technology has been integrated into other applications:
-JohDec Eng. (Western Australia) fabricated a custom containment enclosure using the CAP technology to provide continuous access to the interior of the enclosure.
-Pharmaceutical Containment Technologies (US) provides additional containment in a laboratory isolation enclosure with unobstructed access into the enclosure with two movable glove ports.
-Johnson Matthey (Macedonia) fabricated a high-pressure jet equipment cleaning chamber using the CAP technology to provide continuous access to the interior of the cabinet to manipulate the liquid cleaning jet applicator.
CAP technology has many applications with which one needs to reach through a physical isolation barrier within a containment enclosure, to have continuous movement of their arms and have continuous access to operate with movable ports, and to maintain enclosure isolation/containment.
