The article in the Health & Family section from Time Magazine Online enlightens the public on the use of stimulating viruses that live in our pores to battle acne. Researchers at the University of California, Los Angeles have been testing viruses called Phages to battle the bacteria. Stimulating the existing virus at low levels could help many teens and adults alike combat their outbreaks adults while not disturbing the users immune system.

Most are unaware that bacteria in the skin, rather than just dirt or oil build-up cause acne to flair up. The bacteria know as Propionibacterium acnes live in the skin along side of the Phages virus. The article states that for most, puberty is the growth stage for the bacteria, which multiplies at a rapid rate due to the bodies fast changing chemical composition. Often, Acne takes over due to the immune systems inability to create and maintain an environment that the phages can exist and flourish in to kill the bacteria. Using the viruses at a balanced level could lessen the daily struggle with breakouts without over stimulating the users immune system.

Fernando Perez, a spokesperson for Probiotic Action, is an advocate of non-chemical treatments for Acne, and agrees with the article.

“Many that suffer from Acne are unaware of the positive effects that certain bacteria and viruses have to treat the skin,” he said. “Depending on the severity of your condition, you may need several types of treatment for your outbreaks.”

Additionally, with the growth of alternative medicine, and natural remedies lining the shelves in pharmacies and grocery store isles, its no wonder that science is taking a new approach to acne. Traditionally we have been accustom to the idea that all bacteria is bad bacteria, but the mainstream use of probiotics in foods, like yogurt, has turned the public's eye to bacteria in a new light. In the world of Acne, the idea of completely wiping out the Propionibacterium acnes population would go against the fundamentals using probiotics. Perez states, "Fostering probiotics and other friendly germs, like viruses, to balance our body and help maintain our immune system will undoubtedly be the future of medicine, especially skincare."

Perez also added that non-chemical treatments might be best to try before chemical treatments, as harsh chemicals can damage and crack the skin, in turn, creating an environment for bad bacteria to thrive.

Probiotic Action is an advanced acne treatment that uses a topical probiotic containing the “good bacteria” that is naturally found on healthy human skin. By using probiotics, Probiotic Action is an effective treatment that restores the normal bacteria content on skin. Probiotic Action will successfully clear skin while protecting skin against bad bacteria, free radicals, and pollutants.
