The third quarter of 2012 saw a record number of company formations in Basildon, according to recent research from company formation specialists Duport.co.uk.
Company formations rose by 24% during the period, reaching a record 162 - more than any other third quarter in the history of the town. The individual months of July, August and September also all saw record numbers of company formations, when compared to any other July, August and September.
In addition, net company growth reached a record high during the third quarter and in each of its component months.
Basildon has the second largest economy in the Thames Gateway, outside of London. The area is currently undergoing a major £2 billion regeneration programme, which could be part of the reason for the surge in business start ups.
