The Internet buzzed with the announcement of Facebook’s new search engine Facebook Graph Search. Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg had hinted to the project in an interview with TechCrunch early last year and recently unveiled the Beta version of the program for field testing.
“Facebook is able to do a specific search in your social graph,” comments Darrohn, COO of social media agency fishbat, in the recent edition of “fishbat Splash.” Darrohn also reports that Zuckerberg stated during a press conference that Facebook Graph Search can find friends with similar interests like a favorite television series.
“If you’re a marketer [this tool] seems like a pretty easy way to hone in on [potential consumers],” says Darrohn. Darrohn believes that though the program is in its early stages, Facebook Graph Search will allow marketers to narrow down potential consumer audiences and target specifically on the population most likely to buy specific products.
According to Darrohn, Facebook Graph Search helps Facebook users narrow down their search for friends with specific attributes. “Facebook ranks these answers by calculating which friends you had the most interaction with,” comments Darrohn.
Darrohn reports that Facebook Graph Search provides Bing Internet search results if results come up unavailable. The Beta version of Facebook Graph Search has a waiting list that all users can sign up for, states Darrohn.
